In Color Drops New Single: “High”

If you’re a fan of alt music and you’re keeping your ear to the ground, you’ve probably already heard of In Color. A Tennessee group, they have skyrocketed to the number 1 spot on the alt radio charts and number 3 for alt airplay with their single Headlights; a somber breakup song with a music video best described as hauntingly sexy.

Riding that wave, along with their sold-out spring headline tour, In Color released today their newest single “High”; and if you enjoyed “Headlights” I feel you’ll really enjoy this new single. Matt Hastings powerful yet soft delivery really delivers the pain of having an attraction that’s unhealthy to someone, like (as the song name implies) being addicted to them.

“We wanted to capture that moment when desire stops feeling romantic and starts feeling similar to withdrawal” – In Color

The Chorus line backs this, with Matt wailing “You’re the only thing that’s getting me high”. The music alongside it feeling borderline dangerous and unnerving, which matches their stated design. “Sonically, the track feels a bit claustrophobic,” said In Color in a press release,” which matches the lyrical theme of obsession and dependency.”

If you’re a fan of alt music, be sure to check out the music video for “High”.  Between the song itself and the excellent artistry for their music videos, In Color might just become your newest obsession (if they aren’t already). And while you might have missed out on their spring tour, be sure to catch them this summer with Jutes on his North American tour and The Maine during their fall tour run.
