“If You Could Talk” New Single by Dexter and the Moonrocks!
Dexter and the Moonrocks have released their new single “If You Could Talk” on Wednesday 7/15! It is a song written by lead singer James Tuffs to his son and it deals with the struggle of being a parent while touring. This track follows up the band’s massive hit “Freakin’ Out” which has amassed over 200 million global streams and was recently RIAA Gold-certified!

The new single follows the traditional flow of a Dexter and the Moonrocks song that deals with an inner personal struggle. Each song is like a diary entry that feels personal to be reading, but you can connect with in some way. The accompanying guitar is gentle in this song so it forces an emphasis on Tuffs’ words and voice. It allows you to be pulled into the story that he is telling. It’s a bittersweet song. You can see that the band and Tuffs are grateful for the opportunities that they have been getting, but that family is still in the forefront of their minds. They haven’t forgotten their responsibilities at home. However, as is said in the song, the band members “gotta pay the bills.” This is a line that every working parent can probably deeply relate to.
While listening to this song, it makes me feel a sense of nostalgia for my own childhood. My dad growing up had to travel often for work and he would be gone for days at a time. As a kid, I missed him and wished he could stay home. I did understand though that he had to go in order to put food on the table. So even though this song was definitely written for his son and for working parents, it can also connect with people on the other side of that style of relationship. This song is another great song by Dexter and the Moonrocks and will definitely be a recurring feature on my playlist!
The single release is accompanied by an official music video. You can watch the video here:
The new single “If You Could Talk” arrives just weeks before the second leg of Dexter and the Moonrocks’ almost sold-out headline tour, which kicks back up in August! Be sure to catch them on this tour!
