Nathan Evans x Saint Phnx: angels’ share

Nathan Evans and Saint PHNX are two powerhouse Scottish bands. Nathan Evans grew to fame due to his beautiful renditions of sea shanties. His version of “Wellerman” went viral on TikTok, amassing over 2 million views. It is a MUST see. Saint PHNX are similar to Nathan Evans, but are a bit edgier. Their music skews more alternative/indie pop. These two bands are great on their own, but together the two bands would be incredible. Well, they have decided to do just that! This year they collaborated on an album called Angels' Share. It was released in January 2026. 

The trio have a deep passion for Scotland and folk music. The brother duo Saint PHNX actually grew up with their parents playing them Scottish folk music. This love and connection to Scottish culture is prevalent throughout their collaboration. Along with their love for Scotland, they also have a deep respect for whiskey. This is evident from the album’s name: Angels’ Share. 

Angels’ Share is a common term in the whisky process. When whiskey is being made and is put into barrels, it matures for a long time and over that time some of it evaporates into the air. This lost whisky is called the Angels’ Share. This is what is behind the whiskey’s taste and is what makes it what it is. This is the meaning behind the album for Nathan Evans and Saint PHNX. It’s the trio coming together and making something special. It’s also a way to honor their lost loved ones. 

Even though the album is full of meaning and honor, it also has songs that are designed to make people dance. For example,the song “Milarrochy Bay” tells the story of the trio being in Scotland and told by a random man to go check out that location. What came out of this experience is that it proved to the boys that they don’t take themselves too seriously. 

This collaboration was such a great one! It created an album that speaks of love, loss and also joy. It is beautifully folk and wonderfully Scottish. I highly recommend that you go listen to it.
