Free Music Lessons during Teach Music Week
Learning to play an instrument comes with a number of hurdles and for many people the costs associated with music can be prohibitive. From March 16th through March 22nd however aspiring musicians in over 1200 locations can receive free music lessons as part of Teach Music Week.
Set during the 3rd week of March to coincide with national Music in Our Schools Month® Teach Music Week allows anyone wanting to learn an instrument to receive free lessons so long as they bring their instrument to an affiliated store or institution. Kid or adult, as long as you’re a new student you’re entitled to one free lesson. While it’s only one free lesson,
“We all know that very often the biggest hurdle to doing something is just getting started,” said Vincent James the co-founder of Keep Music Alive, “With Teach Music Week, we are hoping to inspire a new generation of musicians who will continue reaping the many benefits of playing music, long after the month of March is over”.
While one free lesson may not seem like much to seasoned musicians, it can be the first stepping stone for many artists. For younger kids especially, that first lesson can build a lifelong interest that pushes them to pursue a career in the arts, or at least makes them consider joining their school’s band or music programs.
